IMPOUND AND STORED VEHICLE INFORMATION
IMPOUNDED VEHICLES (Spanish Information Listed Below)
The Glendora Police Department charges a vehicle release fee of $120.00 for impounded vehicles. Vehicles are usually impounded for licensing and registration violations. The towing company charges fees in addition to this fee.
To obtain a release of an impounded vehicle, you must present all of the following at the Glendora Police Department:
- Valid driver’s license or have a licensed driver with you.
- Proof that you are the current registered owner or legal owner.
- Payment of the $120 release fee—cash or credit card only.
- Most licensing violations mandate that the vehicle is impounded for 30 days. It can’t be released prior to that time. However, there are some exceptions that are listed below:
- 30 day impounds may be released earlier than the 30 days with reinstatement of the driver’s license and proof of current vehicle insurance.
- Extenuating circumstances. The watch commander can approve an earlier release based upon extenuating circumstances. See Post Storage Hearing information listed below.
After complying with the above steps you will be presented with a vehicle release form. You must take this form to the towing company. You are responsible for any storage & towing fees that the towing company charges. You pay those fees directly to them.
The towing company used by the Glendora Police Department is:
Jan’s Towing, 134 North Valencia, Glendora, CA 91741. Their fees will vary with the type of vehicle impounded and the time elapsed since the date of impoundment. Please contact them directly at (626) 914-1649 for their fee schedule.
STORED VEHICLES
The Glendora Police Department does not charge a release fee for stored vehicles. However, you are still responsible for any storage & towing fees charged by the tow company. Vehicles are usually stored as a result of traffic accidents, illegal parking, or as a result of the driver being arrested for a non-licensing violation.
To obtain a release of a stored vehicle, you must present all of the following at the Glendora Police Department:
- Valid driver’s license or have a licensed driver with you.
- Proof that you are the current registered owner or legal owner.

RELEASE of PROPERTY from IMPOUNDED or STORED VEHICLE
Property can only be released to the registered owner of the vehicle. The registered owner must obtain a letter from the Glendora Police Department listing the property to be released. The registered owner will then take the letter to the towing company to obtain their property. No fee is charged by either the police department or the tow company.
POST STORAGE HEARINGS
If you believe that your vehicle was impounded or stored improperly or there are extenuating circumstances, you can request a post storage hearing by calling the Glendora Police Department watch commander or by coming into the police department. The hearing is informal and you simply explain to the watch commander why you think the vehicle should be released. The watch commander can have the vehicle released early, waive the department’s vehicle release fee, and in unusual cases such as an improper impoundment or storage, can have the towing company waive their fees. The watch commander can be contacted at 626-914-8250.
