CAMPAIGN SIGNS 101
- Permit is not required
- Must receive consent from a property owner or Homeowners association before posting on private property or a community
- Not allowed in the public right-of-way
- Place signs behind sidewalks; if there are no sidewalks, place signs 10 to 12 feet from the edge of the pavement
- Avoid posting where signs can be a hazard or hinder a community member’s visibility (e.g., large signs close to a traffic intersection)
- Avoid posting or placing on trees, utility poles, or fencing from the edge of the public right-of-way (50 to 60 feet wide that contains public streets, sidewalks, and utilities)
- Avoid walls or fencing at the edge of the right of way that is also the property line for the abutting property
- City may remove any campaign sign that it deems improperly placed
EXAMPLES OF IMPROPER SIGN PLACEMENT LOCATIONS ARE:
- On fences along County flood control channels
- Nailed or otherwise attached to any public tree (street or park) or utility pole
- In any public tree well
- On medians in public streets
- On parkways (between the sidewalk and the street); generally speaking, the right-of-way on streets with no sidewalk extends ten feet from curb or end of street pavement.
