CAMPAIGN SIGNS 101

  • Permit is not required
  • Must receive consent from a property owner or Homeowners association before posting on private property or a community
  • Not allowed in the public right-of-way
  • Place signs behind sidewalks; if there are no sidewalks, place signs 10 to 12 feet from the edge of the pavement
  • Avoid posting where signs can be a hazard or hinder a community member’s visibility (e.g., large signs close to a traffic intersection)
  • Avoid posting or placing on trees, utility poles, or fencing from the edge of the public right-of-way (50 to 60 feet wide that contains public streets, sidewalks, and utilities)
  • Avoid walls or fencing at the edge of the right of way that is also the property line for the abutting property
  • City may remove any campaign sign that it deems improperly placed
