Glendora, CA – August 20, 2024 – The Glendora Police Department, in close collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), successfully apprehended a suspect involved in a severe child exploitation case. The arrest occurred early this morning at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) as the suspect attempted to enter the United States with the intent of exploiting a minor.

The investigation began when the Glendora Police Department received a report of a 14-year-old juvenile female involved in an inappropriate online relationship with an adult male. The relationship was linked to an IP address traced back to Chile. The suspect, Daniel Aravena Oliva, a 21-year-old Chilean male, met the victim through an online gaming application. Over the next several months, he manipulated and groomed the victim through various online platforms.

With critical assistance from HSI, Glendora Detectives were able to confirm the suspect’s travel plans to California. The suspect had arranged to meet the victim in person, having booked accommodations near her residence. Upon his arrival at LAX, U.S. Customs, and Border Protection officers detained the suspect. Glendora Police Detectives and HSI, took him into custody without incident.

This case highlights the importance of cross-agency collaboration and swift action in protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation. The Glendora Police Department remains committed to pursuing those who prey on children and bringing them to justice.

The suspect is currently being held on multiple charges related to child exploitation and the production of child pornography. The investigation is ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time.
